Oxen Acres is a licensed and insured landscaping company. We've spent years caring for properties across Ashburn, VA and Charles Town, WV — and we've built the company we wished we could hire when we were homeowners ourselves.
Our story
Oxen Acres was founded on a simple frustration: too many landscaping crews in Northern Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle treat properties like a checklist to clear instead of a craft to practice. Crews rushing through at full speed. Mulch dumped in volcanoes around tree trunks. Seed thrown on hard, unprepared soil. We knew we could do it better.
It's a veteran-owned company, but that's not the headline — the work is. What we believe in is unglamorous: plan the season, communicate clearly, finish what we start. Small details, repeated faithfully, compound into outcomes that look like luck from the outside. That's exactly what landscaping is.
We're a hands-on company. Every project is owner-managed — the owner plans the work and stands behind the result. The details that decide whether a yard looks loved or just maintained never get handed off to chance. We grow slowly so we never have to choose between volume and quality.
We're proud to work where we work — anchored in Charles Town, West Virginia and reaching east across the Blue Ridge into Ashburn and the surrounding Loudoun County, Virginia. These are communities where neighbors talk, where reputations are built one property at a time, and where the work has to speak first.

Every property gets the same discipline — whether we're refreshing the beds and shrubs, designing a new planting, or rebuilding a tired property from the soil up. We grow slowly and take on one project at a time.

How we work
Pretty words are easy. These are the ones our crews are actually graded on, week after week.
On time, every time. If we said Wednesday, we're there Wednesday. The first thing a property needs from a landscaper is consistency — without it, nothing else we do matters.
Mulch installed at the proper depth — not piled against trunks where it rots wood. Pruning cuts timed to each plant's window. Aeration and seed timed to the soil, not the calendar. The right way is almost always the only way.
Your home isn't just another job to clear. We pick up our debris, sweep the drive, close the gate behind us, and tell you when something's wrong that you should know about — even if it isn't ours to fix.
If a plant won't survive where you want it, we say so. If a treatment isn't worth it this year, we don't sell it. We earn the next job, every time.
